Cage Fighting for Toys For Tots!

My neighbor is an MMA fighter. (Yeah, I know I’m lucky!)

I’ve talked to him off and on about it, but not yet in the “I’m a writer and I want to interview you so I can write my smexy book better” sort of way. He brought over a poster today and let me know that NFC Fighting is having their annual Toys For Tots fight for charity on Friday, December 13.  Free admission with a new toy!

Well, since I’m writing a trio of novellas about fighters how can I resist this opportunity? Bonus: There’s going to be two women amateur Muay Thai fights too!

Now to convince the DH to go!

My morning began with trying to enter the RITAs, Romance Writers of America’s writing contest for published novels. I love Devil’s Angel, and if it ends as my only historical novel, I want more exposure and recognition for it.

The site programmer obviously didn’t think about what would happen if 10,000 people all tried to submit their entries and pay their fees simultaneously. Since Devil’s Angel is going into the Historical romance category and that is always one of the popular ones, I wanted to make sure I got my entry in. The contest system got hung up for quite some time–I think it tested every one of my seven virtues!

I ended up going the old skool route of printing the PDF, handwriting my entry, then scanning it in and emailing it to the contest coordinator. At this point, I’m not sure if I’ve entered once or four times, but I think I’m good!

It’s a long shot category for unknown authors, but I’ll get to put my book in front of five new people (first round judges) and that’s alays a good thing. Now to cross my fingers that Samhain will be able to get early print copies of Devil’s Angel!

New Book Deal!

Samhain acquires Linden Bay Romance

Macon, GA, December 5, 2008

Samhain Publishing Announces Expansion Plans

In a bold move, Samhain Publishing ( announced the purchase of Linden Bay Romance ( In light of the downward spiral of the economy and the rapid consolidation of many of the larger publishers, Samhain Publishing has seized their chance to expand their market share by creating a new fiction line under the popular Samhain brand.

“From the beginning one of my goals was to create multiple lines within Samhain,” says Christina Brashear, owner of Samhain Publishing. “With Linden Bay Romances’ excellent reputation, I made the offer in the hopes the owners would see this sale as a mutual benefit to both houses.”

“We hadn’t considered selling Linden Bay and we were slowly making inroads with regards to increasing print distribution, but we’ve found, especially in light of the economy, neither sales teams nor buyers are very open to taking a chance on a smaller, less established press,” says Lori James, part owner of Linden Bay Romances. “Samhain Publishing has the relationships in place that would take us years to develop.” James continues, “The offer came at a time when we realized under the Samhain umbrella, Linden Bay Romances will be stronger and reach its full potential faster.”

“For Samhain, it is a win-win situation,” says Brashear. “We will expand our lines with an established name in the electronic book industry and we’ll acquire an excellent stable of authors, editors and artists.”

Samhain Publishing opened its doors on November 1, 2005 and already they’ve made a splash in the publishing world. From Publisher’s Weekly features to dozens of fiction and cover art awards, this publisher is one to watch.

Summertime…and the living is steamy in Hotlanta.

A Red-Hot Summer story.

Alina Gabriel has hit on the perfect formula to make her club, The Scarlet Lady, the hot spot in Atlanta’s night life. Men flock to see her alter ego, retired exotic dancer Miss Scarlet; and women line up to see Joshua Hanover and his blues band steam up the stage.

Alina herself isn’t immune to the blind guitarist’s sensual songs and musical dexterity, but she refuses to be just another notch in his groupie belt.

That is, until Joshua debuts a new song, “Red-Letter Woman”, to entice Miss Scarlet to dance. The song and dance leave them both hot and bothered, and when Alina retreats to her office for personal relief, Joshua joins her and offers to strum her desire.

But Joshua wants more than a one-night stand. He’s pushing for an encore, and Alina wonders if it’s her he’s after–or her exotic persona.

Warning: This title contains sensuous solos, decadent duets, dirty dancing, and a man who’s really good with his hands.
